Challenge

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office provides advisory information for British travelers on staying safe abroad. This is important information that needs to be shared as widely a possible via the internet to mobile devices.

Solution

We use the Open Data Protocol (ODATA) to publish the information via the Windows Azure Data Marketplace. The ODATA feed can easily be incorporated into other applications and services. We build a Windows Phone 7 application “Travel Advisor” that uses location awareness to query the data feed. View the video

Benefits

The FCO data is now highly available via the Windows Azure Datamarket and can easily consumed by disparate software and devices.
