Safety technology experts extend functionality of existing smartphone app to support living and working in isolation

As the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic, two10degrees has delivered a targeted and simplified derivative of its smartphone app, GAP Guardian. The unprecedented global response to the pandemic has seen organisations around the world pivot rapidly to remote working for many of their people. As organisations start to come to terms with this ‘new normal’ there is growing focus on how to ensure an employer’s Duty of Care to these remote workers is being met. Delivered through our trusted Partner Network, the solution is focused on supporting people in isolation, and the businesses, government agencies and scientific, health and academic institutions entrusted with their welfare.

The new derivative of the app has a simpler user interface which can be configured to suit specific needs. The existing GAP Guardian functionality can be simply switched on/off through the GAP Portal web interface to add further business and duty of care tools, such as SOS, Messages, Tracking and Documents.

This current version of the app includes a button to check-in so you can regularly and automatically perform welfare checks; allowing you to improve visibility of your people and prioritise contact with people who really need it. The “Quick Call” button is a quick and simple tool which gives users access to defined telephone numbers and initiate phone calls. “My Info” allows the user to update their personal data, which can be configured to your requirements. As examples, this allows you to:

  • Understand, at a glance, the health status of your people
  • Highlight the lack of home-working equipment
  • Track symptomatic, diagnosed and recovered individuals

Critical updates can be automatically reported to designated contacts - GAP supports any communications protocol such as phone call, SMS, email and satellite comms.

The award-winning Global Alerting Platform (GAP) can be structured to support even the most complex organisational and escalation models. GAP hosts a sophisticated Rules and Event Notification Engine, which can raise alerts and perform actions when certain events occur such as:

  • Leaving isolation zones
  • Updating user information
  • Missed check-ins
  • Swipe killing the app

You can quickly and easily build your own rules to suit your distinctive needs and obligations; the possible variations are
near endless.

GAP Guardian can be kiosk deployed to support large-scale rollouts with enterprise service levels and high-level security and privacy from Microsoft Azure. The solution is highly scalable and able to be rapidly deployed securely in any global data centre. GAP currently helps people around the world to:
