Lucy Finlayson, Partner Success Manager at two10degrees, has been shortlisted for the 2019 DevelopHER Awards.
The DevelopHER Awards is an annual awards ceremony recognising women who work in the technology sector in East Anglia. The Awards aims to raise the profile of women in technology in East Anglia, creating role models to inspire the next generation to become developers, technicians, project managers, testers and digital experts.
Lucy has worked in the technology sector for over 15 years and has been employed by two10degrees for over 13. Lucy is a truly versatile individual who efficiently goes above and beyond in any task she is given. She has been nominated for the 'Unsung Hero' Award - this Award is for individuals that aren't often in the limelight but do an amazing job day in day out, and therefore deserve some recognition.

two10degrees presents "two10degrees Academic Prize" at University of Essex Graduation for 12th year running
Today, Charlotte Prodger of two10degrees, attended the Computer Science Graduation Ceremony at the University of Essex to present the two10degrees Academic Prize. This year’s winner was Julia Petria, who achieved the highest mark for her final year BSc Computer Science project.
The team at two10degrees has been working closely with the University of Essex for a number of years. From commercial project collaborations and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) to offering student Summer Placements and Work Experience.

Last week, the two10degrees team were lucky enough to be joined by Thurston Community College student, Fraser Gipson, for a work experience placement.
During his time at the Ipswich-based office, Fraser worked on various projects under the guidance of Lucy Finlayson, our Business Services Manager. Fraser worked on several projects over the course of the week including competitor research, devising a test and evaluation plan and developing a prototype app.
“During my time with two10degrees, I have been given the opportunity to have a go at a variety of different IT projects which I would not have had the chance to do in school.
Overall, I found the workplace very different from school; I was treated like an adult and felt like a member of the team even though I was only here for a week.
The office is a very welcoming and friendly environment and I was provided with help and support whenever I needed it. This experience has allowed me to develop lots of computing skills and learn a lot about what life could be like for me after I finish my education.
I would like to thank two10degrees for allowing me to work here and for the informative and enjoyable experience.”

We are pleased to announce that last night our Health and Safety App, that we developed with our valued clients, Overbury PLC, won the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Award at the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards.
"Overbury were one of the first ten Companies in the UK and worldwide who achieved certification to ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety on the launch day of the standard. This international standard replaced OHSAS 18001 and sets out the requirements to create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all.
Overbury understand their responsibility for the occupational health and safety of workers and others who can be affected by their activities. Through consultation with a wealth of construction/ management staff and some of their preferred contractors they have developed an app to tangibly manage Health & Safety for those working on their projects and the potential interfaces with building occupiers and the general public.
Their H&S+ app assists them to provide safe and healthy workplaces, prevent work-related injury and ill health, and analyses root causes to continually improve OH&S performance. Using the app provides a framework for managing monitoring and evaluating OH&S risks. It provides Overbury with an insight into how to manage the outcomes which prevent work-related injury and ill health to workers, and to provide safe and healthy workplaces.
Consequently, it is important to use the app to assist them in recording and gathering data on how to eliminate/reduce hazards and minimise OH&S risks by taking effective preventive and protective measures and, in turn, making positive improvements to their Company Safety Standards. They can measure, manage, monitor, and improve their OH&S performance because the app is effective and efficient in allowing them to take early action to address opportunities for performance improvement.
Their continued use and associated developments show extremely positive outcomes including:
a) Top management leadership and commitment to technology
b) Leadership in developing, leading and promoting a culture in the organisation that supports the intended outcomes from use of the app
c) Extensive external & internal communication of Health & Safety issues
d) Assistance to review & develop Company Safety Standards and Policies
e) An effective process for identifying hazards, controlling OH&S risks and taking advantage of OHSW opportunities and good practice
f) Continual performance evaluation and monitoring to improve performance
g) Integration of the OHSW management system into the organisation’s business processes
h) OHSW objectives that align with the information provided from the app use and considering hazards, risks and opportunities
i) Compliance with requirements - both legal and their Standards
j) Increased use of the app by project team members
k) Closer engagement with their preferred supply chain partners"
