two10degrees today reaffirmed their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and environmental impact, with the successful Bronze re-accreditation from the Suffolk Carbon Charter.
This is the second time that two10degrees has received the Bronze award for their efforts to minimise their carbon output, and introduce more environmentally conscious business practices; previously having received their first award on the 24th August 2010. In order to achieve their re-accredited, two10degrees has implemented a variety of changes which would be sustainable for the business on a permanent basis; as a result they now use 100% recycled printer paper and fair trade refreshments. They are also using local businesses when purchasing stationary and basic office essentials; not only has this reduced travel and vehicle emissions, but it also supports their local community. In addition to changing their purchasing habits, they have also started recording gas and electric usage. This has allowed the business to take direct action with consumption, and take action on unexpected increases in usage, for example reducing use of the air conditioning. As a direct result of monitoring their consumption two10degrees has seen a decrease in overall utility costs. Due to the success of monitoring gas and electric usage, emissions from travel are now also being recorded; with the intention of finding ways to reduce or offset the carbon generated. As a business two10degrees are committed to trying to make a 5% reduction (1.52 tonnes) to their current CO2 emissions over the next two years. Although many of the changes they have implemented are individually very small, the accumulated effect has been significant to the business; proving that to make a difference to the environment, businesses don’t have to spend exorbitant amounts of money or time. With careful planning and management two10degrees has been able to significantly reduce their environmental impact and carbon emissions. “We are committed to creating a sustainable business model, with a focus on reducing our carbon emissions. To receive recognition and be awarded a Bronze accreditation is something we are very proud of.” – Lucy Finlayson, Client Services Manager for two10degrees. The Carbon Charter is awarded to companies that are monitoring and reducing their carbon emissions. It is intended to provide public recognition of this vital step to our shared goal of Creating the Greenest County. The Bronze level recognises companies taking their environmental responsibility seriously; with effective carbon monitoring and reduction plans in place. The team at two10degrees are continuing to strive for further reductions to their carbon emissions, with their sights set on a Silver accreditation for 2017. Comments are closed.
