On the doorstep of the Okavango Delta, Maun is Botswana’s primary tourism hub. Restricted and treacherous means of transport, coupled with the region’s limited communication infrastructure, meant tourism industry service providers put their assets at serious risk on every journey they made to Maun.
Eyrie, a key player in Botswana’s communication industry, identified the opportunity for a tracking solution for vehicles and people travelling in and out of Maun, and across the wilderness.
Eyrie became a Value Added Reseller (VAR) of Globalstar’s satellite tracking units and soon realised the need for their own tracking platform to complement the device. With these newly acquired units the organisation had the power to communicate in the most remote locations surrounding Maun, but no means of visually displaying what the devices could do. The business needed a robust, multi-functional portal with a proven track record.
GAP’s comprehensive and award-winning mapping and tracking platform provided all the features and functionality required by Eyrie in an intuitive web-based user interface. During the trial, the business experienced how easy it was to amalgamate all of its track, trace and management operations all in one place.
“The GAP portal was the most appealing and had all the requirements I was looking for.” Waldo Botham, Eyrie (Pty) Ltd.
Eyrie is currently tracking a wide collection of vehicles including overland trucks, safari cruisers, light aircraft and boats (when the water levels are high enough). By using GAP, Eyrie is offering reassurance that their clients’ people and assets can be found anywhere in the Delta.
“Their patience and support has been overwhelming! I’m looking forward to growing my cliental with GAP.” Waldo Botham, Eyrie (Pty) Ltd.
